Metadata and Semantics Research (MTSR) Conference Series

The MTSR conference series started 2005 and continued bi-annually in the years 2007 and 2009. From 2010 on, the event became annual. The event series is closely related to the sponsoring International Journal of Metadata, Semantics and Ontologies, published by Inderscience and indexed by Elsevier's Scopus.

The conference is focused on options binary theoretical and practical aspects of metadata research in a broad sense: models, languages, standards, applications, etc. and also on the application of Semantic Web technologies or any other kind of advanced metadata expression language to Web applications. Metadata includes not only formal but also informal annotations (tags, folksonomies, social systems, etc.), and the kind of papers cover a wide range, from formal papers to empirical studies, including different kind of application and technology reports and user studies. The conference welcomes reports on metadata deployment and use in real world projects.

What makes MTSR different?

The conference attempts to gather a truly multi-disciplinary audience, with research papers coming from different IT-related fields as Information Science and Computing (in all its areas, including Information Systems), but also from any application-specific areas. An excellent example of that multi-disciplinary approach is the series of Agricultural Metadata tracks that have been organized in the conference since 2007 edition. The conference organizers especially welcomes track proposals that are discipline-specific, and that are able to gather together a sub-community of metadata and semantics HTTPS//ABOUTTRADING.CO.KE researchers and experts around a particular topic.
